Spring Break / Rebelution-Expendables Concert Review

All in all, this was a pretty good spring break, especially the fact that i got more than 4 days off as Davis finally realized ther sched was BS.

I departed Saturday afternoon from Davis after probably my toughest finals week of my college tenure. I ended up doing ok, but still a rough quarter. and gradewise my lowest yet, but considering the courses and difficulty level im content..this new quarter will be another tester..but hey, if ur not challenged, ur not learning.

Sunday was Easter..it was another great family outing, as we continued the tradition of headin to Menlo to go to the grandparent where my grandma would prepare yet another outstanding Easter Sunday Feast.

After Menlo, we continued north up to SF to have dinner with my other grandma(dad's side).

Monday, i have no idea what i did, i cant remember..i think i tried to get Warriors/Lakers tickets but failed since i didnt want to pay 150 a piece for Upper Reserve (thers nothin i hate more than ticket scalping above the original ticketprice of 25 dollars). So i sat at home and watched the game on the Plasma for free just to see Derek Fisher and the refs screw us over...if ur a warriors fan, u know what happend.

Tuesday I departed for my 3 day stay in Santa Cruz, but first my cugino Adam and his friend Mitch and Chez from Reno hit up Alotta's for an italian sausage sandwich.

Once we arrive to r beach house at Canon del Sol we were met my my roomate Jeremiah and his friend John Mark. We had stocked up at safeway with all the essentials...we were good to go.

we had phenomenal weather both days...so we obviously hit the beach real hard. we had plans to make it to the pool/hot tub but the damn gate was locked..1st time ever. some 1st alarm security guard wasnt doin his job. but we got it fixed with a simple complaint a day later.

Santa Cruz Sunset

Fire of BON

Damn those smores were good

nice flames
Thurday morning we left the beach house. We returned home and got ready to hit the 5 oclock train to head up to At&T Park to watch the Giants preseason game against Seattle. The train ride was fun due to some consumption of beverages..but i can honeslty say i had no fun at the game. The lack of crowd for 1 thing was one of the main reasons, but the biggest was the lack of BARRY BONDS. im sorry, but sports r considered entertainment, and when u dont have a player who entertains or attracts fans, what is ther to watch..yea i know im being ignorant, but sorry i dont appreciate fundamental baseball..i live for big plays, and i can argue that most of america does to..i have no problem with roids, ppl like Kobe, Jordan, Woods, Lebron because they r entertainers and give the fans what they want to see..obviosuly thats not the entire part...the giants r miserable..they cant pitch, and they cant hit, no offense...and Barry Zito, u r a TOOL.

No Bonds, no giants

i posted this picture to show how empty the seats were..couldnt have been more than 5000 people

Friday my cousin went to the hospital with one of his asthma attacks. really sucked for him as he missed out on my grandpas weekly outing to the Dutch Goose and The Rebelution/Expendables Concert Friday Night

The concert was one of my favorite reggae/rock concerts yet...and i must say the mosh pits during the expendables set were heavier than some of the pits at my rock concerts.

The first band Rebelution, is what really got me excited bout this concert as I discovered them about 6 months ago on Itunes, they have made their way up to one of my favorite bands..and their live set did not dissapoint. even tho their bassist was rockin the j-rich warriors jersey he really took away from the stage energy as he only stayed in 1 spot on the stage and did the same old gay dance.

The Expendables then took the stage, it was my 1st time seeing them live, and they put on a hell of a live show..they r such a unique band with mellow dub beats combined with heavy metal riffs..very diverse sound which is pleasing. they definitely showed maturity and experience as their stage presence was phenomenal and showed why they are headliners..take note rebelution, ull get ther tho.

great, great concert featurin some amazing bands..

Saturday and Sunday i headed back up to the beach to stay ther with the parentals..windy but sunny, so more pool and beach time and of course to the best bakery in santa cruz...GAYLES. if ur ever ther get the downtowners..best breakest food out ther. as well as ther breakfast burrito.

thats bout it..night

Quarter Review

So last Friday i concluded Winter Quarter at davis. also marks my 3rd month of being back in the states. This was probably the toughest final week i have had here at davis. I only had 3, but they were very tough and didnt really feel confident on any of them. But ive proven myself wrong before..not too worried. plus i got an A in business law so i didnt have to take its final.

The quarter went by 2 fast, it just flew by, half the time i was still wishin i was in italia.

Well at the beginning of the quarter, i told myself i would get a job..as most of you know that never happened. so in that sense i am a failure. however i do have a interview next week for a job on campus. ive got big plans for spring quarter as its always the best quarter of the year and the most fun. One starting point is i have class everyday at 9, so that abolishes my horrendous sleeping patterns. I WILL have a job, and i will continue going strong on my workout routine. I hope by summer to finally get some weight on me as well as muscle and still be able to drain the bball.

Sigma Nu will also be a big factor spring quarter as we get the ball rolling.. Officer nominations are comin up as well as a retreat to the delta. Tomorrow i believe im booking my flight for my ASU trip which will be the April 11-14. The weekend after is picnic day, so april will be a great fun filled month and a fabulous way to start spring. as far as classes, yea ther lookin real tough, another microecon, quantitative analysis and a product management class..roughner

So yea, adjusting back into gear from Italy was definititly a timely process and obviously still miss it. i also get annoyed at the questions i still get like "did you have a fun time" i mean please, of course i had a good time, if not the best

Tomorrow i embark for Santa Cruz for 3 days, will be fun times

Ill leave you with another great human tetris video.

The Space Between

well classes pretty much ended today..actually got 1 more day on Monday, and finals start Tuesday..first time without a dead day. Ive got my microeconomics final on Tuesday..gonna be the first and hardest one. Then microbio on wednesday..and macroecon on Friday..Saturday is business law, but since I have an A i do not need to take the final.

Sigma Nu is takin shape...i believe we are at 30 guys..really got a good group of men..cant wait to get the ball rollin. This weekend will be relaxing..minor studying without stressin..working out/playin ball, and watchin that UCLA vs Stanford Pac 10 tourney.

Spring Break seems to be shaping up nicely...previous Arizona plans unfortunately will not be happenin..but i got a pretty good lineup..Brief itinerary includes a saturday departure from Davis, Easter Sunday, Monday Night warrior game vs the Lakers aka Kobe..then Tuesday thru Thurday in Santa Cruz, Thursday giants game, and capping it friday night in SF seein expendables and REBELUTION..NICE!!!

leave you with this...yea i did this rather than deriving economic functions...i think this could prove more worthwile.

have a good weekend..stay classy

China Cat Sunflower

Thought ide let you know of some cool sites ive stumbled upon the past couple of weeks and some ive known about for quite some time

MUSIC SITES

The first 2 are last.fm and ILIKE. these are must haves for any music lover. these sites/programs help you find artists similar to ones you already listen to..half the new bands i find are thru these sights..They also keep charts and track the songs you play in your media player..just something cool. They also take your bands you have in your libraries and tell you if they're currently playing live in your area (click logos to link)
The next 2 are also music and they are online players...Pandora is a cool new project that my friend Brady told me bout couple weeks back...basically you type in a band you like, and it will create a web radio station with all that certain type of music..another great way to find new bands. i think this company has got a real future..as they r based around some study they call the Music Genome Project...check it out
Lastly there is seeqpod..my personal favorite...you may have heard of this if you own an IPHONE..if u have an iphone get this program...you can search for any song and itll find it on the net and you can stream it..and if theres a music video itll also link that...NICE! you can save playlist so you virtually can have an entire online music library and not physically or legally own any songs on your hard drive. give it a try

DEALS AND OTHER STUFF (click images to link)

so as many of you know..im kind of a frugal guy...and i dont like buying anything unless i know I am getting it for the cheapest price offered...or even free. I dont usually like to let ppl on my tips but here are some of my favorite deal sites where i find all my free goods and learn about great deals

Price grabber is really convenient because it takes major online companies and compared the prices of the product your looking for

and of course when all else fails..or you cant find what your looking for..you can always find IT on eBay

Killer startups is just a site that talks about upcoming businesses..kind of interesting just to see what could be the new business of tomorrow

now ill LET my dedicated readers on one of my recent FREEBIES. st pauli girl is having there annual poster giveaway..poster chick this year is pretty bomb..way better than last yr..poster is free..have to be over 21*unless your a minor who drinks..they give out 400 a day..and they release them each day at 6pm ..good luck..ive already ordered 2

Linkin Park Show Review

Last night I was able to make it out to the Linkin Park, Coheed and Cambria and Chiodos Concert at ARCO ARENA...the show has been sold out for over 2 months and i never had tickets. ground floor tix that were faced at $49 were easily going on craigslist for over 125. i didnt want an upper level ticket, or for that matter a lower level ticket becuase who can get into a rock concert when ur in a seat. keepin the story short, i was constantly checking craigslist afternoon to hope to get lucky cheap tix..that didnt work...ended up getting EXTREMELY lucky when ARCO released a very few amount of tickets(due to promoters not giving all theirs out). so i scored ground floor tickets and my friend Josh and I were on r way to a great concert experience. i really think they only released less than 15 tickets and i was able to get 2 of em...NICE!!!

so first on stage were CHIODOS. a real uptempo rock/screamo/melodic band that i first heard about 2 years ago. I have seen them 3 times and this was their 2nd best performance. They sounded clean, and had great stage presence. I didnt rank it their best performance for the sole reason that the ARCO crowd sucked and were just standing around..not even a single mosh pit. i felt bad for the band..but thats what u get when almost all the fans are there for Linkin Park. other than that couldnt complain with the setlist.

After an entertaining 30 minute Chiodos setlist, and a 15 minute intermission..COHEED AND CAMBRIA took the stage. I've always enjoyed these guys and believe it was also the third time I've seen them live..the other previous times were at warped tour. here once again..a great performance..but a shitty crowd. Lead singers hair is amazing..and he ripps real hard on the guitar. a note on the crowd later.

Coheed and Cambria - WELCOME HOME

LAST UP......LINKIN PARK. well when I first saw linkin park over last summer at the project revolution tour, i said that they were one of the best live bands I have ever seen. last night re-emphasized that. They truly put on one hell of a show. AFI and Linkin Park are definitely the top 2 live bands that i have seen. It was about time that the crowd got into it..this is the first time mosh pits formed, the first time shirts came off, and the first time ppl started crowd surfing..to me that is what gets a real rock concert going. Its tough to get into a concert when your feeling it and you have boyfriend and girlfriends hugging right next to you...so thats y i love when mosh pits form and break that stuff up. however the tools in the pit last night...well they were just plain tools...big fat whitetrash guys..over 25 easily..that were just big and thought that they were in some elite mosh pit club. I even heard one of these guys say to some Non pitter that was complaining "Im 6 foot 1 and 250 pounds..you can't mess with me" it was then when i looked at this fat beer bellied 26 yr old man..and just thought to myself how worthless this guy was..ya thats cool that u appreciate the music, but ur really not that tight for being in the pit. well anyway..Linkin Park put on another hell of a show..including a double encore. here was the setlist:

Sacramento, California

01. Wake
02. Given Up
03. Lying From You

Entertainment Update

Well today I hit the golf links for the 1st time in 7 months..twilight 10 bucks at Davis Golf Course. ....we got in about 12 holes before it got dark. Played with my sigma nu recruiter and one of my future fraternity bro, as well as my good friend Taylor. I played real well suprisingly..in 12 holes i got 3 pars, 1 birdie, 4 bogeys and some other holes with more than bogeys(damn sand traps) either way felt great ot be out ther on a friday in teh sun,

school is going good, been ownin my tests...last week of school then finals

Been watchin alot of movies lately...No Country for Old Men...was good until the finale..i wasnt a fan. other than that great acting.

Also got a chance to watch I AM LEGEND with Will Smith...real good movie, enjoyed the plot and correlated nicely with my microbiology class with infectious diseases.

Started watching LOST after i was finally able to download it..im 5 episodes in teh first Season and I now what all the hype is about...this is right up ther with the 2 horsemen 24, and Prison Break..really gonna like this show as it has a jurasic parkish type of feel. so yea im comitted to this one, should be a good series.
I am now all caught up in the Office..well with like 5 episodes of last season..been great watchin it, best comedy on tv right now..can't beet(inside joke) Dwight Schrute
Jericho has also been fantastic..good action/suspense film but dont start watchin now, ull be lost.

MUSIC UPDATE
Well, still tryin to get to this Linkin Park Concert on Monday. But either way good concert lineup coming. Expendables, hopefully Rebelution, Pepper, Iration, Dave Matthews, Warped Tour, and this new festival in SF with Tom Petty, Jack Johnson and Radiohead.

this will take a while tho..as most these great concerts will be in the summer..

On my ipod ive been listening to Sublime, Mountain Yonder String Band, Weezer, Coheed and Cambria, Incubus and Ballyhoo!!

Recent News

Discovery of explosives prompts evacuation of Tercero residence halls - Campus News

well from what i hear bout this on campus..this was just the media blown the event way out of proportion. but yea i guess despite all the terrible school events, they had to take this threat serious. from what i hear this guy just had some chemical materials, but nothing mixed or anything, and no final pipe bomb constructed. every kid goes thru a pyro stage in his/her life, wheter it be random fireworks, rocket engines, or to burning ants or rollie pollies in a match box. this guy was just experimenting, but pretty dumb for making it public leave stuff out becuase u r in a dorm with tons of ppl, they will get suspicious.. Do i think this guy was a threat? noo but do i think hes an idiot and am i glad he got arrested??? yes, even if this guy was simply experimenting, you still gotta have some street smarts.

Airborne

so I have always viewed the airborne medicine as the epitome of the placibo effect. which basically means you tell yourself that it will heal you, and it does. airborne has this reputation of being the cold immunity and that it is the best cold medicine out ther. i never bought this as I believe this is a load of crap...its just some vitamin that helps ur immune system, and taste good. yea i admit it, when i feel something, i pop airborne like none other. well looks like someone took my idea, and is now suing airborne for false advertising for a settlement of 23 million. hows that ms school teacher who got rich of some herbal meds.

Airborne Article

Goodbye Favre

well just in, Brett Favre has officially retired. Ive never been a fan of the packers, but Ive always been a fan of brett..no real reason, just like my wierd love for the Minnesota vikings. hes got a hell of an arm and is a true leader on the field. that consecutive game streak(253 games) was quite the feat to. so just that shows this guys heart that he has for the game.

He retires with 5,377 career completions in 8,758 attempts for 61,655 yards, 442 touchdowns and 288 interceptions.

A Praise Chorus

so last couple days have been good. sigma nu is almost ready to get up and running..almost have the founding men . weather has been fantastic....been biking to places everychance i get..im over that bus if its sunny and hot outside.

also tryin to get linkin park tickets for next monday at ARCO. this is an amazing lineup with coheed and cambria and chiodos. all there is is upper reserve tix, this show would be a waste in my opinion from the nosebleeds..the scalping on these is rediculous for lower section and ground floor, so im bein real greedy and waiting for the small possibility of arco releasing more tickets( the promoters giving back some tix)..so really hopin i can score, if not ill be missin a realll good concert..linkin park probly puts on the best show i have ever seen, with AFI comin in a close second.

today i unwillingly volunteered for my business law professor to pass out the tests with my friend Taylor..it was quite the challenge as atleast 80% of the class is not white..leading to countless pronunciation errors. you try saying names like Shpuc Sui kim jong and Sagedivd Rsaashhardin...then one would come up like Darren Matthews and those i nailed.

In addition i always find it entertaining at Safeway after using my card how bad the checker can mess up my last name..or even if he attempts to say it all. i eagerly wait for it as they look at my receipt in search of my name. and being that it is their job and im just a college student, they more or less always have to say it
